River

Stryn is located in Nordfjord. The fjord is also called the fjord with the seven rivers.
In and around Stryn we have three big rivers going out in the fjord. Stryn River, Loen River and Olden River all of them has really good salmon fishing. The rivers all get the water from the glaciers and that gives it cold and light green water all year. This is something the shellfish does not like so the salmon and trout eats flies and small fish instead, which gives them a whiter color in the meat but the taste is wonderful.
The salmon goes up the rivers early summer depending on weather conditions. Later also the ocean trout goes up the river to breed. Fishing in the river are good from the start of the salmon fishing until late fall when the last fish has gone out to sea again.

But don’t stop fishing because of that. Most people do take away their equipment when the autumn comes but if you go up to the lakes or small rivers you can find a lot of brown trout (Salmon trutta) schooling in late fall from September to October to breed and the catch can be very good.

Norska Fiskeresor "Norwegian fishing trip"

Norska fiskeresor is Swedish company that arranges fishing trips to the Northwestern part of Western Norway. Every year in September they arrange trips to Stryn.
